Traditional Bulgarian Folk Pottery
The decoration reflects the visual language associated with traditional Bulgarian pottery from the Troyan region and related Balkan ceramic traditions.
Rich green glaze dominates the upper section of each cup, flowing into yellow and cream before meeting the warm reddish-brown lower body. The result is an expressive, earthy colour combination strongly associated with Bulgarian folk interiors and traditional tableware.
Because the cups are unmarked, they are described as Troyan style rather than being attributed to a specific Troyan workshop or maker.
Small Rakia & Liqueur Cups
With their compact proportions of approximately 5.5 × 5 cm, these pieces are best suited to use or display as small rakia cups, liqueur cups or spirit cups.
Their loop handles and rounded bodies make them particularly decorative when displayed together with traditional Bulgarian ceramics, copper vessels, embroidered textiles or other Balkan folk objects.
Glazed Red Earthenware
The underside photographs reveal the characteristic reddish earthenware body beneath the glaze.
The cups are unmarked, while the glossy exterior decoration remains bright and exceptionally well preserved. Subtle variations in the flowing glaze give each cup its own individual appearance while maintaining a closely matched overall design.
Colours & Decoration
The colour palette combines:
- Deep and bright green
- Warm yellow
- Cream / ivory
- Reddish and dark brown
The colours flow vertically across the rounded body, creating a lively drip-glaze effect that complements rustic, folk, bohemian and country interiors.
Condition
Both cups are preserved in excellent vintage condition.
There are no visible chips, cracks or repairs. The glaze remains glossy, colourful and very well preserved, with only minimal signs consistent with age.
Please examine all photographs carefully, including the rim, handle, body and underside views, as they form part of the condition description.
