The underside carries a blue maker’s mark reading “Handpainted in Delft blue colour”, together with the initials E H, a stylized Dutch house emblem and the code 98.10529.

The date portion of the code identifies the piece as dating from October 1998, with the remaining digits serving as the individual model or production number.

Key Details

Hand-Painted Delft Blue Decoration

The candle holder follows the familiar Dutch blue-and-white decorative tradition, using cobalt-blue brushwork over a white glazed ceramic body.

The decoration combines floral and foliate motifs with small landscape-style details, while blue bands around the upper rim frame the design.

Heart-Shaped Pierced Openings

One of the most attractive features is the series of pierced heart-shaped openings around the body. When a tealight or small votive candle is placed inside, the openings allow points of warm light to shine through the ceramic.

This makes the piece suitable both as a functional candle holder and as a decorative Dutch collectible for a shelf, table, mantel or traditional blue-and-white interior.

Maker’s Mark & Dating

The base is marked:

Handpainted in Delft blue colour
E H
98.10529

The code dates the piece to October 1998. The remaining number identifies the individual model or production reference.
